India’s Para Archer, Sheetal Devi, has captured the world’s attention with her remarkable performance at the ongoing Paralympic Games in Paris. Born without arms due to a rare congenital disorder, phocomelia, Sheetal’s extraordinary archery skills have made her a social media sensation, earning praise from global icons.

French footballer Jules Konde and renowned broadcaster Piers Morgan shared her inspiring videos on their social media, with Morgan exclaiming, “These Paralympians are truly incredible. Wow.” Erik Solheim, Norway’s former Minister of Climate and the Environment, called her “poetry in motion” and a “true hero” on his X handle. Despite being knocked out in the pre-quarterfinals of the Women’s Individual Compound Open event, losing by just one point to Chile’s Mariani Zuniga, Sheetal’s journey in Paris continues. She will compete in the Mixed Team Compound Open Quarterfinal alongside Rakesh Kumar, offering her another chance to secure a podium finish.

Earlier in the Ranking round of the Individual event, the 17-year-old set a new Paralympic and World Record by scoring 703 points, a feat that further solidified her status as an exceptional talent.
