Kangana Ranaut Speaks Out on Rejecting Films by Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan.
In a candid promotional interview for her upcoming film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut revealed why she turned down several high-profile film offers from Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan. The actor, known for her strong opinions and selective roles, shared her reasons for rejecting these projects, emphasizing her commitment to portraying respectful and meaningful characters.
Kangana disclosed that Akshay Kumar offered her a role in Singh Is Bliing, which she declined, citing concerns about the role’s portrayal of women. She explained her stance to Akshay, saying, “Please understand, you also have a daughter. We want integrity for women.” Despite Akshay’s continued offers, Kangana remained firm in her decision, prioritizing roles that align with her values.
The actor also spoke about turning down roles in Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan, both of which later became blockbuster hits. Kangana noted that she didn’t find the roles substantial enough for her and believed they didn’t contribute meaningfully to her career.
In the same interview, Kangana criticized Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Animal for its excessive violence, questioning the purpose behind such content. She remarked, “They’re just piling up dead bodies. And why? Just for fun. It’s not for public welfare or the protection of borders.”
Kangana’s latest project, Emergency, in which she plays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is set to release on September 6, 2024. The film, directed and produced by Kangana herself, features a stellar cast including Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, and the late Satish Kaushik.
