Rahul Dravid’s Son Samit Dravid Earns Maiden Call-Up for India U-19 Team Ahead of Australia Series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India Under-19 squad for the upcoming multi-format series against Australia Under-19, featuring a significant inclusion—Samit Dravid, son of legendary Indian cricketer and former India head coach Rahul Dravid. Samit has earned his maiden call-up, marking a key milestone in his burgeoning cricket career.
The 18-year-old right-handed batter, who recently represented Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, has been selected for both the one-day and four-day matches in the series. Although his performance in the Maharaja T20 Trophy was modest, with 82 runs from seven innings, Samit’s potential has been recognized by the selectors, and he will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills on an international stage.
The India U-19 team, led by Uttar Pradesh’s Mohamed Amaan for the one-day series and Soham Patwardhan for the four-day matches, will face Australia U-19 in a series of three 50-over games scheduled for September 21, 23, and 26 in Puducherry. This will be followed by two four-day matches in Chennai, beginning on September 30.
The selection of Samit Dravid is a significant moment, given his cricketing lineage, and he is expected to bring his unique perspective and talent to the team. The series against Australia U-19 will be a crucial platform for these young cricketers to gain international experience and demonstrate their abilities.
