Olympian Vinesh Phogat Joins Farmers’ Protest at Shambhu Border: “Your Daughter is With You”
Renowned wrestler and Olympian Vinesh Phogat demonstrated her unwavering support for the ongoing farmers’ protest by joining the demonstrators at the Shambhu border today. Marking the 200th day of the protest, Phogat was honored with garlands by the farmers, who welcomed her presence as a significant show of solidarity.
Addressing the gathering, Phogat expressed her deep admiration for the farmers’ resilience and determination. “I am proud to be born into a farmer’s family,” Phogat stated. “Your daughter is with you. We must stand for our rights because no one else will come for us.” She urged the government to heed the farmers’ demands, emphasizing the importance of their struggle for justice.
The farmers, who have been stationed at the Shambhu border since February 13 after their march to Delhi was blocked, are demanding a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops, among other key issues.
Phogat criticized the government for not listening to the farmers, despite their peaceful protest lasting over 200 days. Her presence has galvanized the movement, with her support bringing renewed energy to the protest.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher reiterated that the protest would continue with intensity, emphasizing the significance of reaching the 200-day milestone. He hinted at upcoming strategic announcements related to the Haryana polls and called for strict action against Bollywood actress and MP Kangana Ranaut, whose remarks have angered the farming community.
The farmers remain resolute in their demands, vowing to continue their fight until their rights are secured.
