Kangana Ranaut Condemns Simranjit Singh Mann’s Derogatory Remarks: Calls for Accountability

Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has strongly condemned recent derogatory remarks made by former Punjab MP Simranjit Singh Mann. The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leader’s statement came days after Ranaut raised concerns about alleged incidents of rape during the farmers’ protests.

Simranjit Singh Mann, when asked about Ranaut’s comments on the farmers’ protests, made a controversial remark, suggesting that Ranaut should explain how rape happens, insinuating that she has “a lot of experience” in this regard. The comment has sparked widespread outrage and prompted the Punjab Women’s Commission to initiate action, calling it an insult to women.

Ranaut’s team responded with a firm statement, highlighting the gravity of trivializing rape. “Today, this senior politician compared getting raped to riding a bicycle. This reflects how deeply ingrained violence against women is in the patriarchal mindset of this nation. It’s alarming that such remarks are used casually to mock women, even those in high-profile positions,” the statement read.

The controversy follows Ranaut’s earlier remarks on the farmers’ protests, where she alleged that rapes occurred and bodies were found during the demonstrations. These comments have been met with criticism, leading the BJP to distance itself from her statements, clarifying that she is not authorized to speak on behalf of the party.

In response to the backlash, Ranaut acknowledged that she was reprimanded by the party leadership and assured that she would exercise greater caution in her public statements moving forward.
