BJP leader Smriti Irani has expressed her unwavering commitment to Amethi despite her recent defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections to Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma. Describing Amethi as an “emotive and ideological issue,” Irani stated that her true victory lies in the transformation she helped bring to the constituency.
“Elections will come and go. I am not bothered about my loss from Amethi. My real win is that 1 lakh families are living in their own homes now, 80,000 homes are now getting electricity, and two lakh families received gas cylinders for the first time,” Irani said in a podcast. She emphasized her focus on development over electoral outcomes.
Recounting her journey in Amethi since 2014, Irani highlighted the significant strides made under her leadership, including the construction of 3.5 lakh toilets and connecting four lakh people to the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
When asked about speculation regarding her possible role as BJP’s chief ministerial face for Delhi, Irani responded cryptically: “It has always been a privilege to serve the people. I have been an MP thrice and served as the head of five-six departments.”
Irani remains dedicated to serving the people and focusing on substantial development, regardless of the electoral results.
