Bollywood has found its resurgence with the horror-comedy blockbuster Stree 2. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film has achieved a monumental milestone by crossing the Rs 500 crore mark globally in just 10 days of its release. This marks a significant victory for the industry, pulling it out of a prolonged dry spell.
Stree 2 opened with an impressive Rs 51.8 crore on August 15 and has maintained its momentum. By Day 8, the film grossed Rs 308 crore, including earnings from Wednesday’s paid previews. On Day 10, Stree 2 added Rs 33.80 crore to its tally, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 361 crore (nett) and Rs 505 crore globally.
Made on a modest budget of Rs 50 crore, Stree 2 also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. Banerjee, who reprises his role as Jana, credited the film’s team for its extraordinary success. He stated, “The positive energy on set was palpable. We worked like a family, which translated into the film’s success. Every day on set felt like a celebration, and that spirit is reflected in the film’s reception.”
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 successfully competed against other major releases like John Abraham’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein.
With its phenomenal success, Stree 2 is not just a film but a testament to Bollywood’s enduring appeal and the power of positive collaboration.
