Kangana Ranaut’s Controversial Remarks on Farmers’ Protest Draw Criticism from Punjab BJP Leader

Mandi MP and Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has once again sparked controversy with her recent comments on the farmers’ protest. In a video shared on social media platform X, Ranaut suggested that the farmers’ agitation could have led to a situation akin to the recent unrest in Bangladesh if not for the decisive actions taken by the Modi government.

In her statement, Ranaut alleged, “During the farmers’ stir against the three farm laws, bodies were seen hanging and rapes were taking place. There is a conspiracy by foreign powers and these filmy people thrive on it. They don’t care if the country goes to the dogs.”

Ranaut’s remarks have ignited public outrage and drawn criticism from within her own party. Senior Punjab BJP leader Harjit Garewal distanced the party from Ranaut’s comments, advising her to refrain from making such inflammatory statements. Garewal stated, “It is not Kangana’s department to speak on farmers. Kangana’s statement is personal. PM Modi and the BJP are farmer-friendly. The opposition parties are working against us, and Kangana’s statement is doing the same. She should not make such statements on sensitive or religious issues.”

The timing of Ranaut’s remarks is particularly sensitive, with assembly elections in Haryana just weeks away. Her comments could exacerbate the farmers’ anger against the BJP, affecting the party’s prospects in agrarian regions.

This incident is the latest in a series of controversies involving Ranaut, who has previously faced backlash for her comments on farmers during the 2020 anti-farm laws protests.
