In a recent interview with former Navy SEAL Shawn Ryan, former President Donald Trump commented on the possibility of Elon Musk joining his cabinet, should he win the upcoming presidential election. Trump, the Republican nominee, acknowledged Musk’s desire to be “involved” in governmental affairs but expressed doubts about Musk’s ability to serve in a full-time capacity due to his extensive business commitments.
Trump stated, “Elon wants to be involved, but he’s running big businesses and all that, so I don’t think he could be in the cabinet. I’d put him in the cabinet, absolutely, but with everything he’s got going on, it would be tough.”
Despite ruling out a full-time cabinet position, Trump emphasized Musk’s potential role as a consultant, particularly in areas such as artificial intelligence and government efficiency. “He can, as the expression goes, consult with the country and give you some very good ideas,” Trump added, highlighting the strategic importance of Musk’s expertise.
The remarks come after a shift in the relationship between Trump and Musk, who were once at odds but have now emerged as close allies. Musk recently endorsed Trump for the November election and has been actively involved in pro-Trump political efforts.
Trump’s comments offer a glimpse into how the former president might integrate private sector leaders into his administration while acknowledging the challenges of balancing public service with private enterprise.
