In a shocking incident, a woman from Karnataka’s Udupi district was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a man she met on Instagram. The incident took place on Friday in Karkala, where the accused kidnapped the woman near a beekeeping site and took her to a remote forested area.
According to the complaint, the accused lured the woman into a white car and later received beer bottles from two other men who arrived in a separate vehicle. The accused then allegedly mixed drugs into the beer, forced the woman to drink it, and assaulted her when she became unconscious.
The ordeal came to light when right-wi ng activists intercepted the accused’s car while he was attempting to drop the woman back home. The woman was found in an intoxicated state, prompting the activists to alert the authorities. She was immediately taken to a hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The police arrested the accused and another accomplice involved in the crime. They have been charged with kidnapping, rape, and other serious offenses. The woman’s family has filed a complaint alleging gang rape, which is currently under investigation.
Dr. Arun, Superintendent of Police for Udupi, stated, “The woman’s statement will be recorded by a judicial officer, and medical reports will be thoroughly examined as part of the investigation.”
The authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the crime and ensure justice for the victim.
