Full Emergency Declared at Thiruvananthapuram Airport Following Bomb Threat on Air India Flight

Thiruvananthapuram, August 22, 2024: A full emergency was declared at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport early Thursday morning after an Air India flight (AI 657) from Mumbai received a bomb threat while en route to its destination. The alert was raised by the pilot at approximately 7:30 am, shortly before the flight’s arrival at the airport.

Upon landing at around 8:00 am, the aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, was immediately moved to an isolation bay for safety reasons. The passengers were swiftly and safely evacuated by 8:44 am. While they await the return of their luggage, security agencies are currently conducting a thorough examination of the aircraft to ensure passenger safety.

In an official statement, Air India confirmed the receipt of a specific security alert during the flight. “The crew executed all the necessary security protocols with the utmost priority given to passenger safety,” said an Air India spokesperson. “All passengers and crew disembarked safely. Air India places the highest importance on the safety and security of its passengers and crew.”
