The bus was en route from Pakistan to Iraq, carrying pilgrims primarily from Larkana in Sindh province.
The pilgrims were traveling to Iraq to participate in the Arbaeen commemoration, which honors the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Hussein, in the Battle of Karbala. The accident has sent shockwaves through both Pakistan and Iran, with condolences pouring in from various quarters.
