In a remarkable display of community support and quick action, a woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl on the platform of Thrissur Railway Station in Kerala on Tuesday. The timely intervention of passengers, railway staff, and police officials ensured the safety of both the mother and the newborn, who are now under medical supervision and doing well.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday morning when passengers at Thrissur Railway Station noticed a heavily pregnant woman in visible distress. They immediately alerted the police team stationed at the platform. Despite efforts to call an ambulance, the baby was delivered on the platform before the medical team could arrive.
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) Sub-Inspector Geethu and a dedicated team of police officers, including Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar, Ajitha Kumari, Jayakumar, Sajimon, Sreeraj, and Arthana, sprang into action to assist in the emergency delivery. Their swift response was instrumental in ensuring the safe birth of the baby girl.
Following the delivery, the mother and child were quickly transferred to the Thrissur Government General Hospital for further care. Both are reported to be in good health.
Sub-Inspector Geethu expressed her gratitude, saying, “Our team’s collective efforts saved both lives. It was a challenging moment, but we are relieved and happy that both the mother and the newborn are safe.”
