Authorities are in heightened alert following the escape of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, a notorious serial killer known as the ‘Kenyan Vampire.’ Khalusha, who confessed to the gruesome murders of 42 women, including his wife, escaped from police custody early Tuesday morning.

Khalusha, 33, was detained at a Nairobi police station after his arrest in July, which followed the discovery of 10 dismembered bodies and numerous body parts in plastic sacks in the Kware area. Along with 12 other inmates, Khalusha managed to cut through the wire mesh in his cell and scale the perimeter wall, according to Mohamed Amin, head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

“This was a high-value suspect facing serious charges. We are thoroughly investigating the circumstances of this escape and will take appropriate actions,” Mr. Amin stated, describing the incident as “unfortunate.”

Khalusha’s arrest revealed chilling evidence, including a machete, gloves, nylon sacks, and personal belongings of the victims. The discovery of these items, along with the mutilated remains, has drawn comparisons to infamous American serial killers, earning Khalusha the moniker “Kenyan Ted Bundy.”

Forensic analysis of the bodies revealed severe trauma, with most found dismembered. Despite Khalusha’s confession, his defense claims he was coerced into admitting guilt under torture. Two other suspects connected to the case are scheduled to return to court on August 26.
