South Delhi Malls and Hospital Receive Hoax Bomb Threat, Authorities Take Swift Action

South Delhi Malls and Hospital Receive Hoax Bomb Threat, Authorities Take Swift Action
  • PublishedAugust 20, 2024

On Monday, three prominent malls and a hospital in South Delhi were evacuated following a bomb threat received via email. The threat, which claimed that an explosive would detonate within a few hours, targeted Chanakya Mall (Chanakyapuri), Select Citywalk (Saket), Ambience Mall (Vasant Kunj), and Primus Hospital (Chanakyapuri).

Upon receiving the threat, Delhi Police, along with fire and emergency services, swiftly initiated evacuation procedures and conducted thorough searches of all the affected locations. After an extensive search, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices were found, declaring the threat a hoax.

This incident comes just days after a similar hoax bomb threat was made against Gurugram’s Ambience Mall, where the management also received an email claiming bombs had been planted to “kill everyone in the building.” The mall was evacuated, and a search was conducted, but no bomb was discovered.

The Delhi Police are treating the recent hoax threats with utmost seriousness. They are investigating the source of the emails and have urged the public to remain vigilant while assuring that there is no immediate danger. Enhanced security measures have been put in place across the city to prevent any such incidents in the future.

Authorities also reminded the public that making such false threats is a serious offense under the law, and those found responsible will face strict legal action. The Delhi Police encourage anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
