The post-mortem report of the 31-year-old trainee doctor found murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital reveals disturbing details suggesting she was gang-raped before being brutally killed. Dr. Subarna Goswami, in an interview with India Today, highlighted that the nature of the injuries inflicted on the victim strongly indicates the involvement of multiple perpetrators.
Dr. Goswami, who is also the Additional General Secretary of the All India Federation of Government Doctors’ Association, emphasized that the presence of 151 grams of liquid in the vaginal swab of the victim could not be the result of a single assailant. “The extent of injuries and the sheer force used cannot be attributed to one person,” Dr. Goswami said, aligning with the victim’s family’s suspicions of multiple people being involved in the horrific crime.
The post-mortem report details that the victim was throttled and smothered to death, with her thyroid cartilage broken due to strangulation. The report also noted severe genital injuries and signs of “perverted sexuality” and “genital torture.” Additionally, the victim suffered injuries on her belly, lips, fingers, and left leg, and was found with bleeding eyes and mouth, indicating extreme brutality.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, has been arrested in connection with the case. The family and the public demand swift justice as nationwide outrage and protests by doctors and citizens continue to grow.
