India is set to celebrate its 78th Independence Day on August 15, 2024, marking 77 years since the nation gained freedom from British colonial rule in 1947. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the celebrations by hoisting the national flag at the Red Fort at 7:30 AM, followed by his 11th consecutive Independence Day address to the nation. The speech will be broadcast live on Doordarshan, the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) YouTube channel, and various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter).
