Mumbai, August 1, 2024 – Acclaimed actress Janhvi Kapoor, known for her dedication to her craft, has made a heartfelt declaration inspired by her late mother, the legendary Sridevi. In a recent interview on IMDb’s exclusive segment “On The Scene,” Janhvi revealed that she will never go bald for a character, honoring her mother’s pride in her hair.
Janhvi Kapoor shared, “They can just put a bald cap on or use VFX. I have dislocated my shoulder, I’ve bled, broken bones, put myself through all kinds of trauma and torture, but going bald is something I refuse to do.” This decision is rooted in a personal memory from her debut film “Dhadak,” where cutting her hair led to strong disapproval from her mother. Sridevi’s meticulous care, including regular oil massages, instilled a sense of pride and love for her hair in Janhvi, making it a no-go area for any role.
The actress also recounted a disagreement with director Sudhanshu Saria for her upcoming film “Ulajh,” where she resisted the suggestion to cut her hair short. “My mom yelled at me a lot and she was like, ‘how could you? Do not cut your hair for any role.’ She was very proud of my hair. So I will not cut my hair,” said Janhvi.
“Ulajh” features Janhvi Kapoor as Suhana, an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer navigating a challenging mission at the London embassy. The film delves into themes of nepotism and societal expectations, with Janhvi’s character confronting these issues head-on. Directed by Sudhanshu Saria and co-starring Gulshan Devaiah as an undercover agent, “Ulajh” promises a gripping narrative filled with concealed truths and betrayals. The film is set to release on August 2, 2024.
