Teacher and Student Injured in Stabbing Incident at Srirangam Boys Higher Secondary School
In a shocking incident at Srirangam Boys Higher Secondary School, a Class 12 student attacked a teacher and a fellow student with a knife on Monday, July 29. The attacker, a science stream student recently suspended from the school, entered a classroom around 3:30 pm and assaulted the victims.
The student, disguised with a mask and not in his uniform, first targeted a classmate, inflicting injuries with a knife. He then turned on commerce teacher Shivakumar, attacking him on the head. Both victims were swiftly taken to Srirangam Government Hospital for treatment and are currently recovering from their injuries.
Teacher Shivakumar recounted the incident, stating, “There had been ongoing issues between students from the Science and Arts streams, but I was unaware. When I asked the boy what he wanted, he called the student by name, pulled a knife, and attacked him. He then attacked me, likely fearing I would catch him.”
Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. The accused student is currently absconding, and a search operation is underway to locate him.
The school administration is cooperating fully with law enforcement and has expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of its students and staff. Additional security measures are being considered to prevent such incidents in the future.
