Paris, July 27, 2024 – The highly anticipated Paris Olympics 2024 kicked off with excitement as India’s 21-member strong shooting contingent began their campaign. Among the stars representing India are Youth Olympic Games champion Manu Bhaker and rising talent Rhythm Sangwan, competing in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol qualification today.

The Indian shooting team, finalized by the Rifle Association of India, boasts a mix of experienced and debutant athletes in pistol, rifle, and shotgun events. India has secured the maximum possible quota of 16 players, highlighting the team’s potential for remarkable achievements.

Manu Bhaker, aiming for redemption after a challenging Tokyo 2020 Games, leads the charge in both the Women’s 10m Air Pistol and 25m Pistol events. Accompanying her are talented rifle shooters Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Anjum Moudgil, and Elavenil Valarivan.

The shooting team also features debutants like Asian Games gold medallist Sift Kumar Sifra, who recently set a world record in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. The pistol team includes Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and 19-year-old Esha Singh.

In the shotgun category, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka will compete in Men’s Skeet, while Maheshwari Chauhan and Raiza Dhillon will represent India in Women’s Skeet.

Notable absentees from the squad include former World Champion Rudrankksh Patil and Tokyo Olympian Divyansh Singh Panwar.

India’s Shooting Schedule for Paris Olympics 2024:

July 27: 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team – 2 PM
July 28: 10m Air Pistol (Men & Women) – 1 PM and 3:30 PM
July 29: 10m Air Rifle (Women & Men) – 1 PM and 3 PM
July 30: 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Bronze and Gold – 1 PM and 1:30 PM
July 31: Trap Women’s Final – 7 PM
August 1-5: Various Rifle and Pistol Finals
Live Telecast and Streaming:
India’s shooting events will be telecast live on Sports 18 channels and streamed on Jio Cinemas.
