In a tragic incident, the Dibrugarh Express derailed between Jhilahi railway station and Gosai Dihwa in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda on Thursday. The train was en route from Chandigarh when several bogies went off track, resulting in at least four fatalities and over 60 injuries.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed district authorities to ensure immediate medical attention for the injured. In a post on X, his office stated, “The CM has instructed officials to expedite relief efforts and provide proper treatment to the injured, wishing them a speedy recovery.”
Railway officials and rescue teams rushed to the scene, and helpline numbers were issued for affected families. North Eastern Railway CPRO Pankaj Singh confirmed that the rescue operation began promptly, with medical vans reaching the spot quickly.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is also monitoring the situation, with his office in close contact with relevant authorities.
