CBI’s Arrest of Kejriwal Challenged Amid Health Crisis

CBI’s Arrest of Kejriwal Challenged Amid Health Crisis
  • PublishedJuly 17, 2024

Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, raised alarm over the Delhi Chief Minister’s health during a court session, stating that Kejriwal’s blood sugar plummeted to 50 while he was asleep. Singhvi emphasized the potential danger, noting that such a drop could prevent a person from waking up.

Singhvi, representing Kejriwal in a case against his arrest by the CBI, argued that his client had experienced multiple instances of low blood sugar, even below the critical 50-mark, while in custody. He criticized the CBI’s actions as unjustified, describing Kejriwal’s arrest as a tactic after he had already been granted bail in a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s scrapped excise policy.

Furthermore, Singhvi questioned the legality and necessity of keeping Kejriwal in custody, suggesting that the agency’s actions were aimed at coercing specific answers rather than seeking justice.

Last week, AAP leader Sanjay Singh had highlighted Kejriwal’s significant weight loss since his arrest in March, raising concerns about his health condition and the lack of investigation into the cause.

The Delhi High Court has intervened, temporarily halting Kejriwal’s bail, as the legal battle over his arrest and health concerns continues to unfold.
