Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his maiden visit to Austria, held discussions with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, focusing on the Ukraine war and enhancing India-Austria strategic ties. The meeting, which followed Modi’s visit to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, emphasized the importance of peace. “War has no place in the world,” Modi stated at the joint press conference.
Highlighting the significance of his visit, Modi said, “After 41 years, an Indian PM has visited Austria. This trip is historic and special.” The leaders discussed expanding collaboration in infrastructure development, renewable energy, hydrogen, water and waste management, and artificial intelligence. Modi expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “We have decided to give these ties a strategic direction… linking each other’s capabilities.”
Chancellor Nehammer echoed the sentiment, underscoring the potential for strengthened bilateral ties. The discussions also included the Ukraine conflict and the situation in West Asia, marking a comprehensive dialogue on global and bilateral issues.
