Mumbai BMW Hit-and-Run: Where is Mihir Shah?

Mihir Shah, son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, remains at large three days after allegedly killing Kaveri Nakhwa (45) and injuring her husband in a BMW hit-and-run incident in Worli. The Mumbai Police suspect that Mihir is hiding with his mother and sister, and have questioned over a dozen people while forming multiple task forces to locate him. All known mobile phones belonging to his family and close relatives have been turned off, complicating efforts to track them down.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray has criticized Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, demanding swift justice and questioning the delay in apprehending Mihir despite available CCTV footage and intelligence. Thackeray accused Shinde of grandstanding to divert attention from the case and called for accountability from the CM and the Home Minister for their failure to arrest the accused.

The tragic incident occurred early Sunday when Mihir, allegedly intoxicated, fatally hit Kaveri Nakhwa and injured her husband Pradeep while they were riding a two-wheeler in Worli. Rajesh Shah, Mihir’s father, was arrested but quickly released on bail, allegedly aiding in his son’s escape. Before the incident, Mihir had visited a pub in Juhu with friends, whose statements have been taken by the police.

Police investigations have revealed disturbing details, including footage showing Mihir and another occupant, Rajrishi Bidawat, dragging Kaveri for 1.5 kilometers and running her over again. This footage has intensified the call for justice. CM Eknath Shinde has expressed concern over the rise in hit-and-run cases and ordered stringent action against drunk drivers, emphasizing that the guilty will not be spared. The ongoing probe highlights the urgent need for accountability and justice in this tragic case.
