  • PublishedJuly 8, 2024

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit three relief camps in Manipur to engage with those displaced by the ethnic violence between the Meiteis and the Kuki-Zos, which began on May 3 last year. His visit marks a significant step in addressing the humanitarian crisis in the violence-hit state.

Full Schedule:

  • Jibram: 11:15 AM
  • Churachandpur: 3:30 PM
  • Moirang: 4:30 PM

This will be Gandhi’s first visit to Manipur since being elected as the Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli in the recent general election. He will also meet Governor Anusuiya Uikey at the Raj Bhavan at 6 PM.

Previous Efforts:

Rahul Gandhi has previously visited the region twice since the outbreak of violence. His commitment to the cause was also highlighted during the recent Parliament session, where opposition INDIA bloc members interrupted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address on July 2, chanting ‘Justice for Manipur.’ Similar scenes unfolded in the Rajya Sabha during the Prime Minister’s reply to the debate on the motion of thanks on the President’s address.

Gandhi’s visit aims to provide much-needed support and attention to the displaced persons in Manipur, reinforcing his dedication to justice and humanitarian aid in the region.
