At least 40 people, including several school children, were injured when a bus overturned in Haryana’s Panchkula district on Monday morning. The incident occurred near Naulata village in Pinjore town.
The exact number of children injured has not yet been identified. The injured were taken to Pinjore Hospital and Sector 6 Civil Hospital in Panchkula for treatment. A video circulating on social media shows several injured children receiving medical attention.
Police attribute the accident to overspeeding by the bus driver. Overloading and poor road conditions are also cited as contributing factors, according to news agency ANI.
Congress MLA Pradeep Choudhary of the Kalka assembly constituency in Panchkula announced that an investigation has been initiated.
