Upon arrival, the team headed to the Prime Minister’s residence for a breakfast meeting with PM Modi. Visuals showed the team bus, escorted by police, making its way from ITC Maurya to the PM’s residence. Celebrations began early with the players wearing special jerseys emblazoned with “CHAMPIONS.”
At ITC Maurya, a cake-cutting ceremony saw head coach Rahul Dravid and captain Rohit Sharma marking the occasion. Amidst fans and media, BCCI President Roger Binny joined the festivities, recalling India’s historic 1983 World Cup win.
The team’s journey from Barbados was marked by excitement, with players like Suryakumar Yadav dancing and Mohammed Siraj expressing his joy. As they navigate a packed schedule, including a meeting with the PM and a flight to Mumbai, the euphoria of their victory remains palpable.
