Rahul Gandhi Stands Firm After Expunged Remarks: “Truth Cannot Be Expunged”
  • PublishedJuly 3, 2024

In the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Modi’s government, declaring, “In Modi ji’s world, truth can be expunged. But in reality, the truth can’t be expunged.” Gandhi’s comments, accusing the ruling party of communal divisions, were removed from the official record, sparking protests.

Addressing reporters, Gandhi insisted he had only spoken the truth. His speech, which invoked religious teachings on fearlessness, included quotes from Prophet Muhammad and images of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, and Jesus Christ. Gandhi emphasized that all major religions preach courage and oppose fear.

Several of Gandhi’s remarks, including accusations of minority mistreatment and criticism of industrialists Adani and Ambani, were expunged. He also claimed that the NEET exam favors the wealthy and that the Agniveer Scheme originated from the PM’s Office. His hour-and-forty-minute speech faced multiple interruptions, including interventions from Prime Minister Modi and other ministers.

Undeterred, Gandhi challenged the BJP’s adherence to Hindu values, stating, “Aap Hindu ho hi nahi” [You are not Hindu]. Prime Minister Modi responded, emphasizing the seriousness of Gandhi’s accusations and criticizing him for allegedly branding the Hindu community as violent.
