West Bengal Woman Assaulted by Local Leader, Sparking Political Outrage

In a disturbing incident in Uttar Dinajpur’s Chopra, West Bengal, a video of a brutal assault on a couple went viral. Tajmul, alias “JCB,” allegedly a local TMC leader, was seen attacking the couple with bamboo sticks following a kangaroo court decision. The West Bengal Police registered a case and arrested Tajmul, but Chopra MLA Hamidul Rahaman labeled the woman’s actions as “unsocial” and denied TMC’s connection to Tajmul.

The incident has ignited a political storm, with opposition parties—BJP, Congress, and CPI(M)—slamming the ruling Trinamool Congress. BJP’s Sukanta Majumdar raised concerns about the state’s governance, questioning if TMC is enforcing Sharia law. CPI(M) and Congress leaders condemned the assault and criticized the state’s law and order situation.
