Agarwal shared the email on social media, highlighting the balance students strive for between academic rigour and personal interests.
The email, sent by a student on behalf of the entire batch, began with a polite greeting and proceeded to request an extension due to the significance of the cricket match. “As you may be aware, the India vs South Africa World Cup final is taking place today, a monumental event that holds significant emotional weight for many of us,” the student wrote. They explained that the excitement surrounding the game would make it challenging to focus on their academic work.
The email concluded with a reassurance of the students’ commitment to their studies and a request for a two-day extension to balance their academic responsibilities with the important sporting event.
Agarwal, amused by the request, posted a screenshot of the email with a laughing face emoji. When a commenter suggested that the text might have been generated by ChatGPT, she responded that students’ emails for extensions could outperform any AI.
India and South Africa are set to clash tonight at the Kensington Oval in Barbados for the T20 World Cup final, with both teams having remained undefeated in the tournament.
