The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered over 6kg of heroin in two operations in Punjab’s Amritsar district, officials announced on Saturday. Acting on specific information about narcotics presence and observing drone movements, BSF personnel conducted searches and seized a total of 6.130 kg of heroin.

The first consignment of 560 grams was recovered from Mahawa village, and the second consignment of 5.570 kg was found in Kakkar village around 6:10 PM on Friday. The BSF confirmed in a post on X that both consignments were dropped by Pakistani drones.

In a separate incident on June 24, BSF troops shot down a China-made drone carrying 420 grams of heroin in the border area of Amritsar. Early in the morning, vigilant BSF personnel observed the blinking light of a drone and immediately tracked its movement. They later recovered a DJI Mavic-3 classic drone along with a packet of heroin near Chaklabaksh village.

The narcotics were wrapped in yellow adhesive tape and attached to the drone with a metal ring. The BSF continues to remain vigilant against such cross-border smuggling activities.
