Love Wins: Anju and Kavita Celebrate Their Same-Sex Union in Gurgaon

Anju Sharma and Kavita Tappu, a same-sex couple, recently celebrated their union with a traditional wedding ceremony in Gurgaon after living together for four years. Their wedding included all customary rituals such as pheras and varmala. The couple announced their marriage on Instagram in April, sharing joyous photos and videos with the caption “Finally,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

In a recent interview with ANI, Anju and Kavita shared their love story and revealed their plans to adopt a child. Tappu, a makeup artist, expressed happiness despite the social media backlash involving her family. She praised her partner, Sharma, a TV serial actor, for her support and caring nature. Sharma recounted how they met during a shoot in Gurugram, where Tappu’s kind behavior impressed even her mother.

Although their marriage is not legally recognized in India, the couple is content with their decision and has discussed obtaining a live-in relationship certificate. The Supreme Court of India, in an October 2023 ruling, stated that legalizing same-sex marriages is a matter for Parliament to decide, emphasizing that the court can only interpret existing laws.

Anju and Kavita remain optimistic and look forward to starting a family together.
