CBI’s Investigation and Court’s Decision

A Delhi court sent CM Arvind Kejriwal to CBI custody for three days over the Delhi excise policy case. Judge Amitabh Rawat stated that while the CBI’s investigation is legitimate, the agency must not be “overzealous.” The court emphasized that the arrest is legal based on available evidence and ordered daily medical examinations and meetings with Kejriwal’s wife and lawyer.

CBI’s Allegations

The CBI claims Kejriwal, alongside ex-AAP media in-charge Vijay Nair, sought kickbacks from liquor traders, promising favorable policy changes. The agency alleges AAP received ₹100 crore in bribes, with ₹44.45 crore used for the Goa election campaign. Kejriwal is accused of involving YSRCP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy for funding.

Kejriwal’s Response

Kejriwal denied all charges, alleging the CBI aims to defame AAP through media leaks. He reaffirmed the innocence of himself and his party, stating that any accusations of implicating others are false.
