Actor Kamal Haasan, while promoting his upcoming film Indian 2 in Mumbai, had an unexpected reunion with director Ramesh Sippy. The encounter evoked memories of their collaboration on the 1985 film Saagar, which starred Haasan alongside Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia. Sharing pictures of the meeting with Sippy and his wife, Kiran Juneja, Haasan expressed gratitude for the chance encounter, thanking his co-star Siddharth for spotting the director.
Haasan reminisced about his role in Saagar, where he played Raja, a man deeply in love with Dimple Kapadia’s character, Mona. Despite Raja’s affection, Mona only had eyes for Rishi Kapoor’s character, Ravi. The film, written by Javed Akhtar, was a box office hit and one of the highest-grossing movies of 1985.
Haasan’s recent work includes the blockbuster Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. He is set to reprise his role as Senapathy in Shankar’s Indian 2, releasing on July 12. Additionally, Haasan is collaborating with Mani Ratnam for Thug Life and starring in Nag Ashwin’s Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD, set to release on June 27.
Haasan shared his delight about the reunion on social media, calling it a “pleasant accident” and expressing hopes for future nostalgic moments with Sippy.
