Addressing the newly elected parliamentarians, PM Modi welcomed them and underscored the session’s potential to drive India towards the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Reflecting on the recent elections, Modi celebrated India’s achievement of conducting the world’s largest elections and highlighted the rare feat of a government being re-elected for a third consecutive term. He also marked June 25 as the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, describing it as a dark chapter in Indian democracy.
Looking ahead, PM Modi assured the nation of his government’s commitment to working even harder in its third term to deliver enhanced progress. He acknowledged the significant role of young parliamentarians in shaping India’s future and anticipated that the session would outline his plans for the term, including the formal appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of the Opposition, a position vacant since 2014.
The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, set to run until July 3, is expected to set the tone for legislative priorities and national discourse under PM Modi’s leadership.
