‘Katla or Rohu?’ Rahul Gandhi’s lunch suggestion to Tejashwi Yadav

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi celebrated his 54th birthday on Wednesday, receiving warm wishes from Tejashwi Yadav, his colleague in the INDIA bloc. Yadav praised Gandhi for his “remarkable vision and leadership,” wishing him a long, successful life. In response, Gandhi expressed his thanks and humorously suggested a fish lunch, asking, “Next lunch – Katla or Rohu!”

Tejashwi Yadav’s birthday message read, “Happiest returns of the day brother Rahul Gandhi! You have exhibited remarkable vision and leadership. Wishing you a long, happy, healthy, and successful life ahead!”

Gandhi’s suggestion for a fish lunch adds to the ongoing camaraderie between the two leaders, who previously shared a meal featuring “Champaran mutton” hosted by Lalu Prasad Yadav in Delhi.

Food and politics intertwined earlier this election season when BJP criticized Yadav for eating fish during Navratri. Later, a video showed Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and other Opposition leaders sharing a meal, where Yadav humorously remarked, “Hey (Mukesh) Sahani ji, your fish bones stuck in Modi ji’s throat?” He also joked, “Rahul Gandhi has now had mutton twice,” to which Gandhi responded, “Now it’s my and my sister’s (Priyanka Gandhi Vadra) turn to invite them (for a meal).”

The light-hearted exchange highlights the personal bonds and shared moments within the political landscape.
