Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahney has urged the Centre to provide Punjab with suitable budgetary allocations and special project sanctions to address the state’s burgeoning debt. Emphasizing the need for economic growth, Sahney highlighted the importance of extending production-linked incentive schemes to more industries, supporting MSMEs, and offering freight subsidies to reduce logistical costs and boost exports.
Sahney stressed a comprehensive approach for farmers, advocating for MSP reforms, crop diversification, and infrastructure development to support agriculture and tackle ecological challenges. He also underscored the significance of cooperative federalism, calling for collaborative efforts between national and regional parties to ensure balanced development across all states without discrimination.
Sahney’s appeal highlights the urgent need for strategic investments and policy support to revitalize Punjab’s economy and infrastructure, aiming for sustainable growth and equitable development.
