Union Minister Piyush Goyal announced that there will be no change in the leadership of Maharashtra BJP following the party’s core committee meeting in New Delhi, led by JP Nadda and Amit Shah. Despite BJP’s poor performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Goyal emphasized that the party is focusing on a strategy for the upcoming assembly polls in collaboration with the Shiv Sena and NCP.
Speculation about leadership changes, including Rao Saheb Patil potentially becoming state president and the continuity of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP in the alliance, was dismissed by Goyal. He confirmed the BJP is working on a blueprint to secure victory for the MahaYuti alliance in the upcoming elections.
The meeting included key BJP figures like BL Santosh, Bhupender Yadav, and Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis, who had offered to resign to focus on election preparations, highlighted the minimal vote share difference between the ruling MahaYuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the recent Lok Sabha elections. He detailed the strategy to address the party’s shortcomings and leverage its strengths for the upcoming assembly elections.
