Chandrababu Naidu Takes Oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister
N Chandrababu Naidu, leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), took oath as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, June 12, after a significant victory in the state assembly elections. The swearing-in ceremony, held at Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram Airport on the outskirts of Vijayawada, was attended by various prominent political figures and celebrities. Alongside Naidu, other leaders such as Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan, N Manohar, Nara Lokesh, and Atchannaidu were also expected to take oath.
The Andhra Pradesh assembly, with a strength of 175 members, allows for a cabinet of 26 ministers, including the Chief Minister. Naidu had earlier met with Governor S Abdul Nazeer to formally stake his claim to form the government, accompanied by his allies Pawan Kalyan and BJP state president Daggubati Purandeswari. This victory marks Naidu’s fourth term as Chief Minister, following a landslide win where the TDP-led alliance secured 164 of the 175 assembly seats and 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, defeating the YSR Congress Party.
Prominent attendees at the ceremony included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, and several other central ministers, as well as film stars like Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, and Rajinikanth. The event also saw the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and former Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu. Naidu’s return to power is seen as a significant shift in Andhra Pradesh’s political landscape, promising a new era of development for the state.
