Ravi Shastri Honors Rishabh Pant’s Heroics in India’s Thrilling Win Over Pakistan

Ravi Shastri received a warm welcome in the dressing room after fielding coach T Dilip announced that the former India coach would present the best fielding award to Rishabh Pant. Pant’s three crucial catches and valuable 42 off 31 balls were pivotal in India’s six-run victory over Pakistan in New York.

As Shastri entered, vice-captain Hardik Pandya prompted, “Do line bolna hoga (You have to give a small speech),” to which Shastri agreed. He expressed his admiration for Pant, recalling the emotional moment when he learned about Pant’s accident and saw him in the hospital. Shastri commended Pant’s remarkable comeback, especially performing in the high-stakes India-Pakistan match.

Shastri praised Pant’s wicketkeeping skills, highlighting his swift recovery post-surgery. “Your batting, everybody knew what you are capable of, the X factor you have but your wicketkeeping and the range of movement that you have got so quickly back after the operation is a tribute to how much you have worked hard,” Shastri said. He lauded Pant’s determination and resilience, calling it an inspiration to millions.

In the thrilling low-scoring match, India was bowled out for 119 in 19 overs, but Pakistan was restricted to 113-7 in 20 overs. Shastri described it as a typical India-Pakistan game with momentum swings that kept everyone on edge. “It is the team that seizes the big moment, holds their nerves, and comes out on top,” Shastri concluded.

India’s next match is against the tournament’s co-host USA on Wednesday, while Pakistan will face Canada on Tuesday.
