Russia Blocks 11 Telegram Channels Over Alleged Terrorist Content
  • PublishedJune 8, 2024

The Russian government has blocked access to 11 channels on the Telegram messaging app because they were deemed to contain terrorist content. Meanwhile, Poland and Ukraine have been holding talks to resolve disputes over farm imports and border blockades by Polish farmers. These disputes arose because Ukrainian imports were affecting Polish farmers’ prices, despite Poland’s support for Ukraine against Russia.

The talks between Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal took place in Warsaw. While both sides expressed hope for constructive dialogue, there’s been little progress so far due to differing views on agricultural issues. Ukraine’s agricultural sector has suffered due to the conflict with Russia since 2022.

In other news, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia doesn’t plan to attack NATO countries like Poland, the Baltic states, or the Czech Republic. However, he warned that if the West supplies F-16 fighters to Ukraine, Russian forces will shoot them down. This statement comes amidst ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, with Ukrainian forces recently shooting down 26 Russian drones.

Additionally, Ukraine’s capital Kyiv has announced tighter security measures after Russian ballistic missile attacks and threats of escalation. The city’s officials are concerned about potential infiltration by Russian agents or other hostile elements.

Amidst all this, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has visited New Delhi to strengthen ties with India. India has been cautious in its response to the conflict, emphasizing diplomacy and dialogue to end the war.

Lastly, Russia’s foreign intelligence chief visited North Korea to deepen cooperation and discuss regional security. This visit comes amid condemnation from the US and its allies over alleged missile deliveries from North Korea to Russia to aid its war effort.
