Punjab BJP Chief Sunil Jakhar has strongly denounced the alleged attack on actor and BJP MP-elect Kangana Ranaut by a CISF woman constable, labeling it as “most unfortunate.” In a statement issued on Friday, Jakhar emphasized that resorting to violence as a means of expressing dissent is utterly unacceptable.
Jakhar highlighted the gravity of the situation, particularly emphasizing the misconduct of a person in a security uniform engaging in unlawful violence. While acknowledging that Kangana’s statements may have been insensitive, he stressed that physical assault by a security staffer sets a dangerous precedent.
Moreover, Jakhar expressed skepticism regarding the timing of the incident, deeming it suspicious amidst a backdrop of heightened radical posturing in Punjab.
“This incident raises serious concerns, especially considering the broader context of rising tensions in the state. Violence cannot be justified under any circumstances, and those responsible must be held accountable,” stated Jakhar, echoing the sentiment of condemnation shared by many.
The incident has sparked debates surrounding the appropriate channels for dissent and the responsibility of security personnel in upholding law and order while respecting civil liberties. As investigations unfold, stakeholders await further clarity on the circumstances surrounding the altercation between Kangana Ranaut and the CISF constable.
