Currently, everyone in Punjab is grappling with the scorching heat. However, amidst this discomfort, there’s a glimmer of hope for the state’s residents. The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of the monsoon arriving in Punjab earlier than expected. Based on the current progress of the monsoon, it is anticipated to reach Punjab by the third week of June. This early arrival promises significant relief from the oppressive heat, with rainfall expected after June 20. Additionally, pre-monsoon showers are forecasted to continue until then.
The monsoon has already made its way to Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and south Maharashtra. Previously, forecasts suggested that the monsoon would reach Punjab between June 26 and July 1. However, the recent developments indicate an expedited arrival, which comes as welcome news for the state’s residents.
Unfortunately, the cyclone that swept through Punjab has left a trail of destruction in its wake. As many as 18 districts in Punjab have been adversely affected by the cyclone. The aftermath of the cyclone resulted in prolonged power outages in several areas. Tragically, a journalist lost his life in Patiala when an electric pole fell on him during the chaos.
