In its continued efforts to combat corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau has apprehended Police Constable Manpreet Singh, stationed at Gharun police station, S.A.S. Nagar, for his involvement in a bribery case. Singh allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 25,000 from complainant Baljinder Kaur, prompting a case to be registered against him based on Kaur’s online complaint filed on the Chief Minister’s anti-corruption action line portal.

According to the spokesperson of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, Kaur reported that Singh solicited the bribe after she filed a police case at Gharun police station. The investigation revealed that Singh had already taken Rs 25,000 from Kaur. Subsequently, a case was registered against Singh under the Prevention of Corruption Act by the Vigilance Bureau Police Station Flying Squad-1 Punjab, S.A.S. Nagar.

The accused constable has been arrested and is set to appear in court tomorrow. This swift action underscores the Punjab Vigilance Bureau’s commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within law enforcement agencies. The bureau encourages citizens to report instances of corruption through official channels, enabling prompt investigation and enforcement against perpetrators.
