Hans Raj Hans Reflects on Lok Sabha Election Defeat and Future of BJP in Punjab
Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar after his defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, former BJP MP from Faridkot, Hans Raj Hans, expressed gratitude for the support he received during his campaign. He noted the love and backing from the people of Faridkot, the city of Baba Farid, and acknowledged the unwavering support of BJP leaders, workers, and local residents.
Padma Shri Hans Raj Hans admitted his limited knowledge of political intricacies, emphasizing that his campaign was driven by a desire to spread love rather than engage in typical political tactics. “I did not lie or distribute poisonous liquor to garner votes,” he asserted. Despite his loss, Hans remained thankful to the 1.25 lakh people who voted for him and expressed gratitude even to those who did not.
Reflecting on the farmers’ protest, Hans described it as a “bad dream” he wished to forget. He mentioned that this election period was one of the most challenging times of his life. Throughout the campaign, Hans refrained from speaking ill of his opponents, maintaining a positive approach.
Addressing the complaint by Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia to the Election Commission against him, Hans criticized Majithia’s actions, stating, “Majithia had posted 3-4 videos against me on social media. I have given 10-12 years of my life free to the Akali Dal and received nothing in return.”
Hans highlighted the increased vote share for the BJP in Punjab and expressed confidence in the party’s future. He projected that the BJP would grow stronger and form a government in Punjab by 2027. Reflecting on the potential alliance with the Akali Dal, Hans suggested that such a partnership could have secured 5 to 6 seats for the BJP in Punjab.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to serving the people of Faridkot and expressed joy over Narendra Modi’s impending third-term oath as Prime Minister.
