In a startling incident at Chandigarh airport, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable allegedly slapped BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on June 6, 2024. The constable, now suspended, revealed that her mother was among the farmers who had been protesting against the farm laws, which have since been repealed.
The incident reportedly occurred when Ranaut, en route to Delhi for a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting, made comments perceived as derogatory towards the protesting farmers. “She [Kangana] stated that the farmers are sitting there for ₹100. Will she go and sit there? My mother was sitting there and protesting when she gave this statement,” the constable explained.
The CISF swiftly suspended the constable, and an investigation is currently underway to ascertain the details of the incident. BJP leader Jairam Thakur expressed regret over the occurrence, emphasizing the inappropriateness of such behavior by a security personnel at a major airport. “It is unfortunate whatever has happened. For a security person to behave like this at Chandigarh airport is very unfortunate. Investigation will be done and I have got information that the security person has been suspended,” Thakur stated.
Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh echoed these sentiments, labeling the incident as “unfortunate.” Additionally, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini assured that appropriate action would be taken against the accused.
The altercation highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the now-repealed farm laws and the emotional impact on individuals connected to the protests. The investigation will further clarify the circumstances and determine the necessary actions to be taken against the involved parties.
