Authorities in Long Island have intensified security measures for the upcoming India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match at Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9. Despite finding no concrete evidence of a threat, concerns over security threats and the potential for a “lone wolf attack” prompted the decision to bolster security.
The match holds significant importance as it marks the first time the USA hosts a cricket tournament of such magnitude, with Nassau County Cricket Stadium hosting eight matches, including the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash. With a substantial sub-continent population in the USA, a large turnout is expected for the Group A encounter between the two cricketing giants.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder addressed the security concerns, assuring rigorous precautions and the deployment of additional police officers to ensure public safety during the event.
