After concluding his campaign for the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day meditation at Vivekananda Rock in Kanniyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The meditation, starting from May 30 evening until June 1, holds significance as PM Modi pays homage to revered Hindu philosopher Swami Vivekananda.
Vivekananda Rock, located just 500 meters from Kanniyakumari’s Vavathurai beach, is accessible to the public via a short ferry ride. Swami Vivekananda meditated at this tiny islet in 1892, believed to have attained enlightenment after three days and nights of meditation. PM Modi’s admiration for Swami Vivekananda is well-known, often citing him as a role model.
The choice of Vivekananda Rock for meditation aligns with PM Modi’s reverence for the philosopher’s teachings. Additionally, it underscores the BJP’s focus on Southern states, particularly Tamil Nadu, evident through PM Modi’s frequent visits during the election season. The BJP’s significant push in the South aims to enhance the party’s presence and influence in the region, as PM Modi expressed confidence in securing substantial seats and votes.
