Two Killed, One Injured in Alleged BJP Convoy Accident in Uttar Pradesh

Two youths lost their lives, and a woman sustained injuries after being struck by a vehicle allegedly part of the convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Karan Bhushan Singh in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh. Singh is the son of sitting Kaiserganj MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The incident occurred near a school, but it remains unclear whether Karan or Brij Bhushan was present in the convoy.

According to Kernalganj SHO Nirbhay Narayan Singh, the victims, Rehan Khan (17) and his cousin Shehzad Khan (20), were hit by the vehicle while riding a motorcycle. The injured woman, Sita Devi (60), has been hospitalized, with police deployed in the area for maintaining law and order.

The SUV involved, registered under Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s educational institute, lost control and collided with the duo. The driver, Lavkush Srivastava, has been arrested, and investigations are underway. Additional superintendent of police, Gonda, Radhey Shyam Rai, stated that they are recording the driver’s statement to ascertain the sequence of events.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that the convoy’s fourth vehicle, after waiting for a passing train, accelerated to catch up with the rest, leading to the collision with the motorcycle. Police are also looking into claims that the motorcyclist swerved to avoid hitting an elderly woman crossing the road, causing her to faint.
