The family of the late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala commemorated his second death anniversary with a modest gathering in Punjab’s Mansa district. Organized by Moosewala’s family, the event was kept simple due to the prevailing heatwave and ongoing elections. Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, emphasized the importance of a subdued affair, urging people to refrain from large gatherings. The program, attended by village residents and family members, focused on religious rituals to honor Moosewala’s memory.
On the eve of the anniversary, residents of Mansa paid homage to Moosewala with statues, busts, and memorabilia, including t-shirts and coffee mugs bearing his likeness. Meanwhile, Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, expressed her grief on Instagram, remembering her son fondly.
Moosewala’s tragic demise occurred on May 29, 2022, when assailants fired over 30 rounds at him, leaving him slumped in the driver’s seat. The Punjab police attributed the murder to Canada-based singer Goldy Brar and gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Moosewala’s killing sparked controversy, leading to political tensions and calls for government action. Despite his political involvement in the past, Moosewala’s legacy as a talented singer endures, cherished by fans and mourned by his family and community.
